Intersecting Frames
quarter isogrid notched rib assembly
cardstock, printer paper
November 2017
Peripheral ribs assemble to a self-standing square frame, which acts as an assembly jig for the first set of quarter isogrid ribs.
The frame introduces 90 degree notch intersections, which are less tolerant of undersized notch widths.
Assess assembly difficulty and production time.
Verify previously measured kerf in cardstock. Measure toolpath deviation due to jerk in the vicinity of notches at high cutting speeds, and how that alters effective notch width.
Optimize notch and toolpath settings for specific paper stocks. Ease assembly while retaining friction fit.
